The Galloway Arms is a traditional hostelry lying midway between the County Town of Dumfries and the busy Market Town of Castle Douglas. These towns are 18 miles apart, so that the Galloway Arms over the years has become fondly referred to as 'The Nine Mile Bar'. Robert Burns visited The Galloway Arms in 1793 as part of his Galloway tour, and the Hotel now lies on The Burns Heritage Trail. (click for map)
